The Wonderful Jamulator

August 24, 2014

This blog post by Andrew Kelly seems quite wonderful to me.  He details the development of a reverse assembler for NES ROM code that’s built on running some familiar compiler algorithms backwards.  It’s not only geeky as heck but it’s very clearly explained and a wonderful read.  I’m pretty sure the whole Nintendo thing was just an excuse to hack this code together with Python, LLVM, and ingenuity.  I’m seriously planning to try the disassembly technique on the 1802 floating point routines for the same reason.
