Hardware SPI – First Test of the Olduino Shield Adapter

November 8, 2013

Debugging the adapter circuit has been brutal but I buckled down today and got the parallel output latch and SPI hardware working.  The only testing I’ve done is debugging prints and the logic analyzer’s SPI formatter but I think it’s solid.  The picture shows the 1802 writing 0xAA to the output shift register with “out 6” then clocking it 8 times with “out 2”.  MISO is tied to MOSI so the input shift register is loading at the same time and the 1802 eventually reads it with “inp 6”.

Next step is to mount the good old spi lcd on a protoboard and try outputting to that.
